If anyone is still reading — or even if anyone just started — they’ll notice that there’ve been NO updates to this site for an embarrassingly long time. I could bore those (wonderfully tolerant, patient) people with excuses, but instead, I’m going to just explain that I’m working on getting some new software up and running along with an entirely new/different setup. All of the entries from here will be migrated over, and there will be a few interim posts that don’t exist here added as well. The new address will be thescblog.com (much easier to type, and not all that hard to remember)...

I sincerely apologize for the delay.

Oh, but how cute is Noa (pictured above)?! She’s our fifth fur-kid.

We’ll describe how awesome she is in greater detail later. For now, check out some of the worst pictures I’ve shot in a LONG time and see how everyone is growing up.

It’s going to be a crazy flurry of activity to get him to the airport tonight, but I know it’s going to be stellar for everyone involved.

Here are the last pictures I took of him while he was here (on my lunch break before we left for Atlanta).

His forever family has a website up for him here!

What happens when you combine a holiday, a roadtrip, a moving truck, and a whole bunch of dogs? Lots. But mostly, we just took pictures of the dogs.

Stacey’s parents were kind enough to store some of the stuff from our house and garage that didn’t fit in the moving truck back in September (some of it would have been all sorts of convenient to have, but that’s another story), and so, with the help of our neighbor, we got a pretty smokin’ deal on a Penske truck, loaded up the dogs in the Hellement, and set out to eat some turkey and finally finish moving.

Shortly after we hit the road, it became apparent that Cervantes was feeling a little overwhelmed in the mighty Honda, so he ended up being my shotgun-rider in the truck from Spartanburg, SC all the way to Waynesville, OH (and then again on the way home). Cloud, Giselle, Phoenix and Meg hung out with Stacey in the Element, and their bladders dictated when we’d stop along the way. Despite the traffic, it seemed pretty darned easy compared to the roadtrip to Denver and back — aah, the virtues of experience.

Anyway, it was a cold and damp weekend in Waynesville, but that definitely didn’t stop the dogs from having a darned good time... with a combined total of eight of them, I imagine they’d have a difficult time not having fun. That said, it was an immense undertaking taking them out, but an even greater one bringing them back in [and wiping each and every paw]. At least Cervantes made it 25% easier than everyone else — and check out the shots of him in front of the trees! What a handsome lil’ guy!

The climate here in Greenville has allowed us to hang out outside a lot more than we would have been able to back in the frosty wonderland that is Ohio. We picked up a longer lens, so we get to get up in the doggies’ faces without actually getting in their faces — this is a particularly good thing because it means that there’s less tongue/nose interaction with the glass we’re trying to shoot through. Anyway, examples of both of the above can be seen in the pictures posted here. For reference, apple peels seem to make pretty good environmentally friendly doggy play-things.

It should probably go without saying, but the doggies will, naturally, do doggie things. This sometimes involves trying to eat each other, sometimes trying to dig holes in the yard, and sometimes, generally just basking in the sun. Examples of all of the above are not difficult to find, even in the course of just one afternoon.*

*In case you happen to be paying particular attention to naming conventions on those gallery pages, please don’t let the absence of NovemberII disturb you — I ended up combining a gallery to make life “easier.” Or something.
